A Tale of Two Opportunities

Ever heard the saying, “A bird in the hand is better than two in the bush, or when it rains it pours?” What does that even mean…

Well recently, life has provided an example of both of those, but in a good way.

Sometimes opportunities arise and we get so caught up in the excitement of things that we may lose perspective of what we really want, need, or expect.

When that opportunity that you have long awaited or desired for more time than you can remember finally comes along, you may forget all of the things that you noticed and didn’t really like or agree with.

Maybe, you overlooked certain things because you thought, “Things will be different, because that was over there…this is a different situation, or different group of people” only to find out that it is just more of the same.

Sometimes we have to be willing to let go of the “familiar” and “comfortable” to move into your actual future.

It may be difficult or disconcerting at first but change usually is. The great thing is, you get to experience something new and exciting, full of endless possibilities!

For those who watched the first Transformer movie, remember the line when the Sam Witwicky character says, “Fifty years from now, when you’re looking back at your life, don’t you want to be able to say you had the guts to get in the car?”

The car represents whatever, scary, unknown, exciting thing that you have the opportunity to do, but have to take a moment to think about or prepare yourself to act on.

Yes, change is difficult, but remember, insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result. If you want more, better, or something different for your life, take a chance and get in the car and embrace the new, exciting, or different!
